               Mission of the ASEAN Acoustics Commission(AAC)

  1. To promote the awareness of acoustics to the general public
  2. To promote research and development of science and technology in the field of acoustics through organizing workshops, seminars, regional conferences, and international conferences
  3. To promote, diffuse, and exchange of frontier knowledge in the field of acoustics by networking with national acoustical societies throughout the world
  4. To help build up the national standards in noise and vibration through dialogues with the government
  5. To put Singapore on the world map of acoustics
  6. To establish contacts, across member associations from each country, with organisations and enterprises, both public and private, with associations, science institutions, universities, professional organisations, etc., to facilitate them in reaching their goals.
  7. To promote the formation of national acoustical societies in ASAEN countries where these do not exist, and to support and strengthen activities of national associations in those countries where they do exist, respecting the principle of subsidiarity.
  8. To promote acoustic research and application of corresponding technologies.
  9. To publish an ASEAN journal on acoustics, in printed as well as in electronic format.
  10. To promote and realise congresses, to publish books and monographs, and to engage in all those activities that relate to the diffusion, promotion, and development of acoustics. 
  11. To establish collaboration agreements with ASEAN and international entities to better serve the objectives of AAC.
  12. To foster the exchange of knowledge, experience and initiatives present in any one of member countries, for a better development and progress of acoustics.
  13. To stimulate education activities and platforms in acoustics at all educational levels, both academic and professional.
  14. To promote and divulge the establishment and implementation of norms and recommendations in the various fields of acoustics, especially in environmental acoustics, for a better quality of life.
  15. Works on the principle of subsidiarity (i.e. it complements and does not replace activities of national and regional societies).
  16. Offers a range of products which can only or more efficiently be provided by means of panASEAN cooperation.
  17. Is democratically organized (one vote per country).
  18. Full members share running costs • AA Co-organizes contacts with international associations, and with EU and ICA.
